While not yet a published author, Colleen K. Stone is familiar with academic publishing processes and the author networking and presenting it takes to get a book to be used in the classroom and in research. Colleen Stone is a research manager and administers state, federal and private foundation grants focusing towards building more ethical and just ways of living, working and learning together. As an interdisciplinary cross divisional research coordinator at the University of California in Santa Cruz (UCSC), Colleen’s speciality focuses on faculty and student research projects that center radical justice in all facets of science, engineering, technology, and medicine; particularly through critical Indigenous, Black, feminist, and queer STS lenses sparked from community-engaged inquiries and demands. Since 2012, Colleen has managed and helped host hundreds of interdisciplinary academic projects, conferences and community events including dozens of book, podcast, game, and film launches (in person and online) from California to New York and with international partners in the global north and south. While Colleen loves managing all administrative aspects of academic research, she is excited to begin a life-long journey as a published author in order to be able to share the Ethics Needed for Excellence manuscript publicly and develop adaptations.
